to all having ExaMinations

Proverbs 28:24-29

When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually?
Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil?

When he has leveled the surface,
does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin?
Does he not plant wheat in its place,
barley in its plot,
and spelt in its field?

His God instructs him
and teaches him the right way… …

All this also comes from the LORD Almighty,
wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.

You know what amazes me?
This Proverb tells us that Everything comes from and is taught by God... yes.

See, it says even how farmers farm their lands...what comes first? the cumin seeds, the ploughing, the leveling, the variety of crops...

God's the one that teaches us... and all things come from God.
All of man's "wisdom", is actually from God. So
you know how man invented the computer? the light bulb? the television? the telephone? the car? the aeroplane? the toilet bowl? e=mC-squared? Glycolysis?

So thank God that He blessed us with so many things today...

and yAh. So those people doing chemistry, mathematics, science, geography, literature... blah blah blah...

Know that God can help you understand these things. I mean, doesn't all these come from God?

And last sat, Ps. Song said, Wisdom is actually God telling you how to solve a problem...

aren't maths questions filled with problem sums/integration/differentiation/functions/algebra?
Ask God to teach you how to solve your exam problems.

and guess what?

all your Good grades belong to God, because He's the one that teaches us and lets you understand.

I mean, how can our grades be our own when God's the one that came up with the first Pythagoras Theorem, Nuclear Science, Archimedes Principle, Relativity, Mathematical Induction, Law of Gravity, Newton Forces?
Aren't the laws of Nature belonging to God? So does every bit of knowledge that your exams test you...

and also when Proverbs says,
"His God instructs him" a.k.a Your God instructs You...
but you are NOT a farmer, you are a student.
So it's God who instructs You... in school, your school work...

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

:D

all the way!
noel, zeejay, sarah, chia yee, jac, samuel yu, timothy, timmies for Your Final GCE "..."LEVEL Examinations, and rach, ros, stacy, cheng yu, eugene... ... basically everyone from i4c except josh, me, zB and...KEN..haha.

hence, the importance of praying before your papers...
because then you rely not on your own but on God...

This is what my small group, we came up with

Some things that we can learn from Jesus...

about Jesus...

when many say they want to become like Jesus...

so who was Jesus?

1. Character

John 1:32

Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.

Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

2. Charisma

The ability to attract people around you, make people like to be around you.

Luke 2:52

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.”

3. Commitment

Luke 9:62

“Jesus replied, No-one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God

4. Communication/ A great Communicator

Jesus often spoke in parables or used comparisons so that people could understand the things of God. When He spoke, it was clear and simple.

Matthew 17:20b

“if you have faith as small as a mustard seed”

Matthew 6:7

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”

Proverbs 8:21

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Think before you talk.

5. Compassion

Matthew 14:4b “and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.”

Mark 6:34 “And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.”

6. Competence

Jesus knew how to answer the Pharisees who were constantly on the look out to test him and find wrong in him. Yet, Jesus time and again was competent and the Pharisees could find no fault with Jesus.

Luke 7:39

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner."

Luke 14:3

Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"

7. Courage

Courage is not the absence of fear. But it’s the choice of doing the right thing, even in the midst of fear.

Luke 22:44And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground

Luke 22:42"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

Jesus had courage enough to say, let Your will be done, even though He knew that he would have to suffer a terrible death on the cross.

8. Discernment/Wisdom

Luke 4:4,10 and 12 - “The Scriptures say…”

Jesus referred to the scriptures to rebuke Satan’s temptations.

Proverbs 28:24-29

When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually?
Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil?

When he has leveled the surface,
does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin?
Does he not plant wheat in its place,
barley in its plot,
and spelt in its field?

His God instructs him
and teaches him the right way… …

All this also comes from the LORD Almighty,
wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.

9. Focus

Did You know, professional ringmasters when entering a lion cage brings along a stool with him? Why? When the ringmaster holds the stool with the legs extended towards the lion’s face, the animal tries to focus on all four legs at once. And that paralyzes him.

Matthew 6:21 and 24

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Your focus is often fixed on your treasures.

“No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.”

It is not possible to have a divided focus.

Hebrews 12:2

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith”

10. Generosity

Proverbs 11:24-25

“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

Deuteronomy 5:11

“Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.”

Matthew 6:2

"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men.

11. Initiative

John 16:13b-14 “I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name.”

12. Listening

13. Passionate

14. Servanthood/ A Servant Leader

Matthew 20:27-28

“Instead whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…”

Proverbs 11:2

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”

Proverbs 11:12

“Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.”

James 4:6b

“That is why Scripture says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

15. Secure Identity

John 13:3-4

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

What’s the link between the 3rd verse and the 4th verse? Notice the link, “so he got up” to begin washing his disciple’s feet. Jesus was not only teaching Servant-hood to his disciples, but he had also showed that he had a secure identity. “Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power and that he had come from God…” Serving his disciples did not take away nor did it shake his identity in God.

16. Teachability

Matthew 13:9

“He who has ears, let him hear."

Mark 10:15

“I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

Proverbs 14:6

“A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding.”

Luke 2:46-47

“Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

17. A Visionary

John 17:20b-21

“I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

18. Humble

Matthew 3:13

“Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.”

John 13:6

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"

19. Forgiving and Gracious healer

Matthew 18:22

Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

Matthew 8:16-17 Jesus kept healing people the whole day

"He took up our infirmities
and carried our diseases."

20. Sincere

Matthew 6:7

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

21. Filial

Jesus was obedient to his parents.

Luke 2:51-52

“Then He went down to Nazareth with them as was obedient to them.”

22. Caring and Fatherly

John 14:15-21

v18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”

23. Prayerful and Loving

John 17:4, 9, 12, 20

“After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed.”

“I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.”

“While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me.”

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message”

24. Loves everyone and does not discriminate

Luke 19:7

All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.' "

25. Has a Mentor to follow – God

John 5:19

Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

26. Sacrificial

John 10:11

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

27. Authority

Matthew 8:8-9

The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority,

Matthew 28:18

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Matthew 7:28

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Matthew 8:32

He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
